Ever since I started writing poetry about ‘Wind,’ my friends have been after me to publish it. Well, I am proud to announce that the time has come.
I got the call from my Printer today that the proof copy of “WORDS ON THE WIND—One Man’s Poems And Prose On The Battle To Save Rural Maine From Industrial Wind Development,” had just been printed, and that in about a week, we will have the whole run in hand.
This small book is a collection of many of the poems and stories that have been posted to this Blog, as well as a few new pieces, and many wonderful, full color photographs of the things that make Maine special.
“Words On The Wind” will be available in a special full color, limited edition run, of 200 copies. Each copy will be hand numbered and signed. And if you tell me who to make it out to, I will personalize each one. They will sell for $12 each, and the price will be the same whether you pick it up in person, or I have to ship it Alaska or Australia.
The folks who helped me with this book all have a copy coming to them. They include:
Phyllis Oakes, who helped with all the technical computer stuff.
Dorie Klein, who first encouraged me to put this book together.
And all the folks whose pictures help to make the book what it is:
Steve Bennett
William Corrigan
Karen Pease
Nancy O’Toole
Glenn H. Wing
Without you folks, the book never would have happened. Thank you!

If this volume is well received, there just might be another book in my future……….

Save me a verse or two and when you have it in hand I’ll replace it with 12 green things and be on my way.
Personalized would be cool – (To Dave & Linda)
Sounds good, Dave. I’ve got you on my list…

Congratulations, Dave, we are all so grateful for your talent and this project! The front cover photo is lovely, the title is inviting and the prose to follow is heartfelt, to say the least. Add me to your list of supporters for your second book, too, since you are just getting started! The clients whom you guide will surely appreciate copies, too. This is huge. This book has the power to change opinions. Send one to Arlo Guthrie, but call him first to make sure he gets it.
Thanks, Dorie. The cover photo; ‘Sunrise In Western Maine,’ is courtesy of Nancy O’Toole.
I hope this book is well recieved—-I’m already looking forward to the next one!

Set aside at least ten for the Harraseeket Inn gift shop, David. I’ll get the check to you on Friday!!! Very exciting!!!! How much for #1? Should we hold a raffle for it?
p.s. It could be the grand prize at the Mt Blue/Center Hill rally!
Thanks, Penny. It would be great to have them available in your gift shop! It will be a great way to get the word out to those visitors who love Maine.
#1 is already spoken for. Going to someone very special. But I will save a copy for the Picnic at Mt. Blue!
